Basic Sprinkler Renovation and Nozzle Change

Basic Sprinkler Renovation and Nozzle Change

Project Overview – Basic Sprinkler Renovation

For this Subiaco property, the primary issue was inadequate sprinkler coverage and frequent breakages due to the sprinklers being installed at incorrect heights. Our solution involved a two-pronged approach, addressing both the front and rear yards to ensure even water distribution and reduce the risk of breakage.

In the rear yard, we replaced all nozzles on the existing pop-ups and lowered one sprinkler to the correct height, achieving complete coverage across the lawn. The front yard required more extensive adjustments. Four pop-ups that were too high and prone to damage were replaced with new 100mm pop-ups, positioned slightly below ground level to prevent future breakage. Articulated risers and high-quality MP Rotator nozzles were added for better water distribution and wind resistance. Additionally, we upgraded two semi-adequate pop-ups with MP Rotators, greatly enhancing coverage and efficiency.

With these improvements, the system is now fully waterwise, delivering slow, even water application suitable for areas prone to runoff or evaporation. This renovation has resulted in a durable, efficient sprinkler system that provides consistent coverage and makes excellent use of water resources

The Renovation

Two-Pronged Approach

  • Rear Yard: Replaced all nozzles on existing pop-ups and lowered one pop-up to the correct height, achieving full, even coverage for the lawn.
  • Front Yard:
    • Replaced four high-positioned pop-ups with 100mm pop-ups, lowered using articulated risers, and installed MP Rotators for optimal water coverage.
    • Adjusted two additional pop-ups by adding MP Rotators, enhancing their efficiency and performance.
    • Positioned all new pop-ups slightly below ground level to protect them from damage and improve longevity.
Benefits of the New System

  • MP Rotators: Offer superior performance in windy conditions, apply water more slowly to reduce runoff, and ensure even water distribution. Ideal for areas with hard-to-absorb soils, such as clay or rocky terrains, MP Rotators maximise water absorption and minimise waste.

Tip: MP Rotators typically deliver 10mm of water per hour. It’s recommended to run them for an hour during the hottest months of summer. Additionally, during peak summer, a weekly hand-watering session may be needed to maintain a consistently lush lawn. Be sure to monitor soil moisture and select the right fertiliser for your specific lawn type.
