Small Backyard Reticulation Installation in Wellard

Reticulation installation – backyard

Project Overview – Small Installation

This project was completed in a new housing estate in Wellard, where the developers had already installed the front yard reticulation. However, we’ve often seen that these installations don’t always meet the quality standards many homeowners expect, and our client was no exception. Our role was to install a durable and efficient reticulation system in the backyard, connecting it seamlessly to the front yard’s manifold.
Given the layout, we needed to route piping under paved areas, which required careful work to avoid damage to the existing services. We installed a blue line main supply pipe to run water from the front yard manifold to the backyard, as well as running electrical wiring in conduit for maximum durability.

Once in the backyard, we set up a high-quality ENKi solenoid manifold in a commercial-grade spotter box, using waterproof gel connectors and class 12 PVC piping for longevity. With 14 Hunter Pro-Spray pop-ups, equipped with waterwise MP Rotator heads, we ensured even head-to-head sprinkler coverage across the entire area. Each sprinkler was placed slightly beneath the lawn’s edge to avoid damage from lawnmowers or edgers. We also installed a few drippers in specific areas as requested by the homeowner.
To finish, we top-dressed the lawn with quality soil, supplied by the client, ensuring optimal growth conditions. Despite the area’s rocky soil, which required extensive digging and rock removal, the backyard is now fully equipped with a water-efficient, well-designed irrigation system built to last.

The Installation

Backyard Solenoids Installation

Installed an ENKi solenoid manifold, which we housed in a Rain Bird valve box for robust, long-lasting performance.

Sprinkler and Dripper Setup

Installed a series of 14 Hunter Pro-Spray pop-ups with MP Rotator heads for consistent and efficient coverage. These sprinklers were installed slightly beneath the lawn surface to prevent damage from mowing or edging. A few drippers were also installed to water specific garden areas.

Rock Removal and Top-Dressing

Excavated numerous rocks and top-dressed the lawn with quality soil supplied by the client.
